The researcher Barbara Frale found Chinon’s precious document on September 13, 2001 in the Secret Archives of the Vatican. In 2002, Monsignor Sergio Pagano, Prefect of the Secret Archives of the Vatican, invited the OSMTHU, of which Italy is an integral part with the OSMTJ General Priory, to show the original parchment of the Absolution of the Order and of the Master of Molay. It was a private meeting with the Master of the Order ++Br. Fernando de Toro-Garland, together with four members of the Magistral Council and high Templar dignitaries, during which some little-known aspects of the Trial of the Knights Templar, including the acquittal (1307-1312), were presented.
